This is the image I started off with. It was a piece of wallpaper I have had for awhile. The actual color is really a soft purple, but the colors did not come out that well in the photo, but for what I did with it, that did not matter.
And below is a photo of what I came up with! When my husband saw it he was actually shocked and did not believe that the only thing I actually added was the roses! Everything else was created using the piece of wallpaper and colors. I think for those of you who are familiar with Photoshop you will be able to see what I did. I will very briefly explain my steps.
1. I adjusted the paper so the lines in the texture where a bit more straight.
2. I copied a large section of the paper with NO DESIGN so I could have a piece of the papers texture to save. I copied it into a new layer and saved it as a pattern.
3. I took all of the color out of the paper and did a screen color overlay to create a soft blue color. Below is an example of what the paper looked like at this point.
4. I then opened two of my favorite rose images and applied the pattern I saved over top to see what it would look like. I liked it, so I started to add the roses. I also changed the color blue just a little bit more. Below is a photo of the process to this point.
5. At this point I realized I did not like the black dots, and wanted to have a image with more roses. So I copied the fuller rose images and pasted them in random locations.
6. I then went back around and using my "clone tool" erased the black spots and blended everything in a bit more. I did not do a perfect job because I liked the idea of a more worn appearance with faded areas, scratchs, blemishes, and folds. PLUS I would have drove myself nuts trying to get it just right.
7. Lastly I applied a pattern layer with the texture I created. TA DA! That's it.
For the background blog design I created I shrunk the image down a bit and copied and pasted different layers together, for a larger piece with more roses. Here is a preview of the new design I have uploaded to my Blogs N Such site.
