So anyways, I was not too inspired to create much when I was sick, so what does a girl do when she is sick? Well preferably sleeps, but sometimes that was hard to do with such bad coughing spells. I also spent a lot of time holding my little one who was sick. Once he was better and I was worse and unable to sleep, I let out my frustrations by SHOPPING! I thought I would take you on a journey of my creative impulses, BRACE YOURSELF! Maybe this post should be titled "Confessions of a Artistic Shopaholic"!
Let's start off with my postcards I created. I had them printed and decided to open an Etsy store for my handmade goods. My shop is called " My Beau Papier Shoppe".
I had my postcards printed up in two ways. One is a double sided postcard, the other is a flat note card with white envelopes. To find out more about my cards you can visit my new SHOP.
Ok so now onwards in our shopping adventure! I am signed up in a Charm Bracelet Round Robin on my Marie Antoinette Mail Art site. So since I had no jewelry supplies (I gave it all away a couple years ago) I just had to get some! I wanted to find stuff that seemed really neat to me, and boy did I find things I loved! I got lots of charm frames, spacer beads, really neat wings, and more. First I got all sorts of silver, since my charm bracelet for the swap will be silver. A few days later I found all sorts of exciting brass things I just had to have. Why? I don't know! I do not put jewelry together on a regular bases, BUT for some reason I thought that I just had to have these beautiful brass jewelry items. I got a small bag of a variety of Swarovski crystals that were set it very pretty vintage looking brass. But I could not stop there, I could not have them without having the items to put them on! I bought chain and I few other items to go with it.
I have also been enjoying ribbon flowers. I am just learning, so first I started off with buying the books to help me learn.
I just could not wait for the books to arrive to try so I went to the store and just started buying ALL SORTS of fabric and ribbon that I thought might work.
Many more logical individuals might have just got one or two things of ribbon to try it first to see if they were any good or liked it, but not me! LOL I came home with 2 full bags to play with! Better yet a logical person would wait until they got the book to see what supplies they would need, HA not me! I could not wait the 4 days to get the books in the mail, I had to start NOW. Well I did get the books in the mail yesterday, and I found all sorts of ribbon from the book that I want to get. Anyways, here is a little sample photo of what I have done so far with my new interest in ribbon and fabric flowers.
Moving right along! I also have been in love with shabby fabrics lately. By the amount I bought you would think I am a quilter! But, nope . . . just a hobby. Now this purchase I actually spent 3 days on, looking near and far online in search of the most beautiful fabric for the best price. I made my purchase from two different locations. The first from Confections Fabric, WHAT A NAME! With a name like that how could I pass it by! If you have not seen this shop before you really should check it out. It is oh so yummy. The second purchase was from Marie Madeline Studio. Yes, the name Marie is in fact in the store name, but I promise that is not why I picked this store. I picked it because they had a great selection of quarter flat yards in delicious shabby patterns. Below is a photo of all the different fabrics I purchased in my little fabric adventure.
The fun is not over yet! I also got I nice large collection of collage sheets! I purchased 12 collage sheets to be exact! Here is a photo of a few of my favorites.
I really enjoy neat background images. The first one is from Retro Cafe' and the other two are from WHiMSiCaL WoRLD of FaiRieS I am a big big fan of DeBRiNa PRaTT! If you have never seen her work you simply must check it out! I was very excited to see she was creating collage sheets and quickly purchase a few. I also found some beautiful ledger paper digital sheets from Corinne at the Sugar Paper Shop.
My shopping journey continues as I discover lots of new and exciting websites. One of them being My so called junky life. Don't let the title fool you because this shop was full of yummy pastel treasures. I purchased the Spring Fling Inspiration Kit, ledger paper, and beautiful blue
dyed angel wings. (photo to the left) The kit was full of millinery flowers, lace, trims, beads and more. I also found some beautiful Vintage Pink Stripes and Roses Wallpaper cuts at a store called Twig and Berries (photo below to the right, the wallpaper photo is to the left).
My last great find online was a store called Junque Art. Another store that was just full of beautiful treasures. I got all sorts of goodies! My favorite was a beautiful blue floral striped vintage wallpaper (photo to the right). I also got 2 packs of lovely soft pink buttons, damask papers, and lots of vintage seam binding (blue ribbon photo above). The package arrived displayed so beautifully! Everything was wrapped in chocolate brown tissue with beautiful blue vintage seam tape ribbon on EVERYTHING!
My two week shopping adventure ends at a local Primitives shop. I have been obsessed with photos of cute little baby blue birds lately so I thought I would go to the shop and see if I could find any images, well . . . ta DA! I hit the baby bluebird jackpot! I was so excited! I found 8 beautiful
cards with beautiful vintage images of baby bluebirds. Well . . . I am not really sure if they are babies lol, but I call them that because they are just too darn CUTE! I would be the awful bluebird cheek pinching lady. I also found some beautiful crochet and an adorable old childrens book about circus trains.
And to top off my fabulous shopping adventure she gave me two bags of beautiful ribbon and lace in lovely pastel shades for free! My favorite is a pretty pink polka doted one. I attached a close up photo of it.
The pink ribbon is sheer with tiny white raised soft dots. They almost look like they are velvet or something. As if that was not pretty enough it also has a pretty scalloped edge on both sides.
Well, this is where my journey ends. I wish I could have posted photos and talked in detail about ALL my purchases, but I really don't think anyone would read a ten page blog entry!
Thanks for stopping by!
